Addressing the issues

Teaching this subject raises questions about how to convey the magnitude and inhumanity of the slave trade, and corresponding contemporary issues such as anger, racism, identity, blame, guilt and ignorance in thoughtful and sensitive ways. The website offers guidelines on how to encourage debate and constructive criticism in order to address these aspects effectively.
