
Materials for use in the classroom
The Learning resources are a collection of objects and images from
the Understanding Slavery partner museums and are available to save
and download for further use. New artefacts are added to the
resource periodically. Transcripts of all the videos and sound
files will be available later in the year

- There are activities available for each Theme, devised to encourage enquiry and analysis of artefacts and further debate into the history of the transatlantic slave trade.

- The artefacts have been selected from the museums' collections and include descriptions of each object and image, and the accession number or location for further research.

- The Interactives are animations which illustrate particular aspects of the history and have been designed for use on an interactive whiteboard as part of some of the activities.

- The lesson plans give an overview of how to approach each activity and offer homework ideas as well as ideas on ways to modify the activities.

- The PDFs are downloadable versions of the activities, lessons plans, the background information on the themes, and the Understanding Slavery project's research documents, and have been designed to support the production of a personalized, printed resource.

- The PowerPoint presentations are additional materials related to the content of the activities and offer a different approach to introducing the history in lessons.
