1. How easily do we stereotype people?

In your group:

Discuss how the following groups are seen by society. Come up with a single sentence to describe how they would be stereotyped:

  • Teenage girls
  • The elderly
  • Teenage boys
  • Parents
  • Teachers
  • Policemen
  • Older brothers
  • Older sisters
  • Hoodies
  • Footballers
Question 1: Have you been able to decide on these answers?
Question 2: Which stereotypes do you recognise:
  • Are they good at speaking in public?
  • Are they good at martial arts?
  • Are they thin and starving?
  • Are they brainy and hard working?
  • Are they into guns, drugs and gangs?
  • Are they religious fanatics?
Question 3: Why can’t a person be summed up by just a few characteristics?
Question 4: Why can’t you judge everyone by the actions of a few?
